A partial autobiography (covering mostly her years in Kenya shortly after World War 1) Beryl Markham, who was a pioneering aviator, a racehorse trainer, and reputedly a beauty. The events of her life are interesting enough, particularly her adventures in early aviation in a still largely untamed part of the globe, but it is the writing which is particularly stunning. Page after page has wonderfully evocative and rich writing.
