Ugh. I grudgingly liked this better than the last time. At least enough to finish it. At least this jerk can write.

First let me say, despite the stars, I did not enjoy this book. I did not enjoy the story. I did not enjoy the words so densely packed that each sentence felt a paragraph and each paragraph felt a chapter. This story felt like I would read and read and read until my eyes bled and still the page was not finished.

So why the 4 stars? Because Philip Roth is a writer. Despite that I could not care for Coleman Silk, I could not care for Faunia Farley or Les Farley or Delphine Roux, despite everyone yo ...more
