A solid collection of short stories. There is a theme of loneliness and the need for human companionship that runs through the stories, but otherwise they are unconnected, stand along stories. I have previously read The Namesake and these stories have the same eloquence, that left me wanting more. Many of the stories feature the experience of immigrants from India to America. Beautifully written, but I was left unsatisfied after each short story. I understand the theme of isolation and alienation throughout, but the book fails to provide an overall connection that rings true among the stories. Skip this one and read The Namesake instead.
