I recommend this for anyone who enjoys popular archaeology. Interesting first person account of the rediscovery of an abandoned civilization, with brief explanations of the technology enabling it, the recent political history of Honduras and a look inside academic controversy. Just as interesting is the story of the parasite this expedition brought out of the jungle, it’s possible treatment and the spread of disease around the world, both in the aftermath of Columbus and today.
