I tried, I really did. I listened to it in the car and on my walks. In short chunks and long. I thought it would get better as the characters changed but I just hated it more the longer I keep trying to get through it.
I found myself frustrated with the characters almost from the beginning, they just didn't appeal to me or speak to me or whatever else they are supposed to do.
It has ended up being one of those books that is stopping me from starting anything else, I feel that I 'must' finish it

This story covers about 100 years of the Greenwood family, looking for the fundamental roots of family and connection. What is it? What ties it together? What keeps it moving forward?

I really enjoyed how the trees were a crucial part of not only the Greenwood's lives but for all humanity. The trees stood tall for the Earth. They are an intregral part of our necessary structure to survive and they record all our history in their cellulose.

This is an excellent book that is both plot driven , and has beautiful prose. The theme of the importance of our our forests weaves its way through 100 years of the Greenwood family.
