This was a laborious read yet the book is worthwhile for the insights into nomad culture. It is also timely to have read it during the week of Russia having annexed Crimea. The ethnic tensions on the Crimean peninsula are described in detail here by Tim Cope. His personal insights on this aspect of life in the Crimea are enlightening.
