Cork O'Connor is back in his sheriff saddle again (big surprise) and responds to a call on the rez with Deputy Marsha Dross. They immediately come under fire when Marsha exits the truck, later learning the call was a set up and the bullets were meant for Cork. That evening, they find the body of the Starlight representative who was trying to sign the Iron Lake Ojibwa to a management contract. The two don't seem connected but who knows?

Another good addition to the series, though the ending seemed a bit implausible to me.
I listened to this one and David Chandler does a great job of making this book come to life.
Cork is sheriff and is working to solve the murder of a wealthy man's son. It leads him all over the upper peninsula and almost gets him killed.
Jo and kids have went to spend time with her sister because Cork doesn't want them in danger.
I didn't really like that we didn't get closure on this case. There were many things open, so if you want to know what happens next, you must read the next in the series. ...more
