What Members Thought

Homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles are called to the scene of the brutal murder of a young woman. Strange symbols and a cryptic message are clues that lead them to an even stranger group of people who are members of the Mephisto Foundation, a group of scholars who believe in and study the history of evil. Even more disturbing is the discovery that Dr. Joyce O’Donnell is a member and evidence suggests the killer is somehow connected to her.

Wow, I was not expecting that ending. This was a very well written book that made you want to keep turning the pages. I kept thinking I would read just one more chapter and that would turn into 5 or more.
The demon theme to this book was not something that I normally like to read about, but this was one of those that the demon was probably just a psychopath like Jane Rizzoli had determined early in the investigation.

"The Latin is scrawled in blood at the scene of a young woman's brutal murder: I HAVE SINNED. It's a chilling Christmas greeting for Boston medical examiner Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli, who swiftly link the victim to controversial celebrity psychiatrist Joyce O'Donnell - Jane's professional nemesis and member of a sinister cabal called the Mephisto Club.

I always enjoy a good Rizzoli and Isles book and this one was no different. Although the murders were quite brutal, the story line was excellent. I love books that explore ancient text, mythology and legends. The Mephisto Club centers around books from the bible that have been deleted and forgotten about. Stories of fallen angels and demons. I found it quite intriguing. Maura's story is very different from the one portrayed on TV, Rizzoli's as well. I'm interested in seeing where the author plan
