Read in Shortform: this book is something I wish I read when I was in my very early twenties. It’s fantastic advice on networking, and suggests some good systems and habits to set up. I love that the author mentioned that the right time to invest in your network is a long time before you need it. I also appreciated the focus on focusing on providing value first before you need anything. The tip on getting in touch regularly with little value providing info to keep the relationship going is very ...more

3 stars, 4 stars, who knows?

Oh well. So yes, Ferrazzi is bragging, many parts are slow, many are common sense, and for some you should better contact your compliance officer, because I'm fairly sure they are illegal in most jurisdictions.

Incredibly accessible, even to those who find the idea of networking quite repulsive. Ferrazzi does get a little tired and grating with endless name-drops, who are of course, personal friends of his. Incredibly inspiring book. I love the honesty the author provides to the reader. His tricks might be manipulative but I appreciate his honesty. Whenever you want to influence an outcome of something in a way that goes beyond mere serendipity, you need to manipulate. In other areas "manipulation" is well respected but when it comes to people it often is not well respected, unfortunately.

Love the book and thanks a million for all the advice and insights, Keith! :)

One of the best business/networking books I've read. Really makes you think about the relationships you're building, both professional and social, and the way you're building them. Modern take on "how to make friends" ...more
