This book was so good. It's about a 14 year old boy Ryan Dean who lives in a boarding school. He tells his story in a funny way and sometime uses comics occasionally. Warning there are inappropriate words used throughout the book, talk of sex throughout and underage drinking. There is a love story, mystery thriller, laughter. Kept me interested to keep reading. Can't wait to read the sequel which comes out in sept. Adding this book to my favorites shelf.

Never cried so much over a book...I don't even know what to say. Smith is so freaking talented.

Hands down, this is the best book I've read thus far in 2015. Indeed, it's one of the best books I've ever read! It's so good that I wish I could erase my memory of reading it just so that I can read it again. Seriously, I almost don't want to return this book to the library. Of course, I will, but I don't want to. Oh, and the ending, oh my the ending, it's tragic and beautiful at the same time.

Winger is a great coming of age story that many high school students can relate to. He experiences so many things at such a young age and ends up becoming a better person because of it. He also owns up to his own mistakes (like saying stupid things and getting into unnecessary fights), which takes a lot of courage because a lot of people don’t like to admit they were wrong about something.

This is one of the best teen books I have ever read! It took me a long time to get into the book. There is a lot of swearing at the beginning that kept throwing me. I have nothing against characters swearing, but it felt overused and unnecessary. Once I was about 50 pages into the book, I was hooked!
"Winger" is raw. This book allows you a peek at what teenage life can truly be like for a boy in today's world. It can be depressing and heartbreaking, but it can also be hilarious! I cannot remembe ...more

2.75 stars in actual rating, I hate the cover I will start with that. I liked the character of Ryan Dean West but the story fell a little flat. The writing style was fun and I liked the illustrations but I felt like I needed something more. I'm just not sure I was in the mood for something like this. I think because I just read Paper Towns by John Green and some of the situations reminded me a little too much of that. Not sure if I care enough to read the sequel.

A coming of age story featuring a 14 year old boy who is a junior at a boarding school. A glimpse into his life and the friendships/enemies, love and rugby. I never would have picked this up if not for booktube recommendations, so I'm grateful for that.

The hype ruined this book for me, I think. I found the ending extremely predictable.
Also, I really dislike Ryan Dean (and I'm pretty sure I'm alone in that).
