Totally AMAZING @hollyblack. You did a great job on this one. So clever and a PERFECT ending.

Ok, I'm going to try my best not to let this review dissolve into a fangirling mess. But Holly Black is one of my very favourite YA authors, even since I read Tithe way back when I actually was a young adult. One of the problems with a favourite author is that tiny doubting corner of my brain that is always asking "Is this the book that won't measure up to my expectations?"

There’s a monster in our wood.
She’ll get you if you’re not good.
Drag you under leaves and sticks.
Punish you for all your tricks.
A nest of hair and gnawed bone.
You are never, ever coming…
The Darkest Part of the Forest is a stand alone book by Holly Black, this book is about a town where people learned to live with fairies, or more accurately learned to live and avoid fairies. I have several Holly Black books. I have heard amazing things about them and the plots all seemed interesting to me, hence me buying them. Still I hadn’t picked one up to read for various reasons and time constraints. Then a friend and I decided to start doing a read-along every other Sunday (while I’m at work) and discuss as we read after doing it by coincidence one Sunday. The Darkest Part of the Forest was one of my Most Anticipated Books for 2015. I previously read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and was blown away by Holly Black’s writing style. Having read both of these books, I now see a pattern. Not only does she write beautifully, but she has the ability to draw the reader into the world she creates. Her stories have a dark and twisted element that I must admit I love. I never thought I would be interested in reading a book about fae, but Black’s story had me

I think Holly Black and I might break up reading wise. This was a 2.75 star read for me. While it wasn't bad I didn't quite like it either. I needed something more gripping to keep my attention. This was my second book by Ms. Black and sadly most likely my last.

I highly recommend this, especially if you liked The Raven Boys series.
