I loved My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories that was edited by Stephanie Perkins so when I saw there was going to be a summer anthology, I squealed with joy. I love beach-y summer reads that have a good aspect of romance so I was ready and willing to take this book in. But I was a bit disappointed. Summer Days And Summer Nights from St. Martin's Press is their second foray into the world of the seasonal anthology, with Stephanie Perkins, once again leading the charge as editor. While the first book, And My True Love Gave To Me, was all about love, Christmas and all the delights that winter holidays have to offer. Summer Days And Summer Nights takes a decidedly warmer look at love.

After reading so many negative reviews I was a little hesitant about reading this. But I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I expected from this one was just something sweet and fluffy and lovey-dovey with a good old happy ending which (except for two stories) was delivered so I seriously can't complain. Of course, I prefer some stories over the others but overall I enjoyed it a lot. Plus there are different genres, settings, there's also diversity... Something for everyone!

Usually short story anthologies are just okay. I felt like this would be just okay. I felt like the more I went on, the more I enjoyed the stories. I truly enjoyed this collection of short stories more than any other I have read. They were all so different and all had different elements I loved. A couple were just okay but for the most part I enjoyed the majority of them.

This collection showed me that I need to be reading more by Jennifer E. Smith and Lev Grossman very soon.

Some of these stories were meh, some of them were cheesy, but some of them were absolutely adorable.
My favorite story was Veronica Roth's "Inertia"
I also really enjoyed Leigh Bardugo's "Head, Scales, Tongue, Tail", Stephanie Perkins' "In Ninety Minutes, Turn North", and Jennifer E. Smith's "A Thousand Ways This Could Go Wrong". ...more
