Rachel's second book is another hit! Faced with one of the most compelling dilemmas so far, Rachel and the Animorphs debate between promised safety versus unpredictable futures. We also get to see a scattered and afraid Rachel, delving into her family and yearning for a regular life. I loved how both the big and small conflicts got to her-- at this point in the series, Applegate is solidifying the motivations of each Animorph by pushing them to a crisis-- and I love seeing them freak out :-)!
