Having seen the movie before reading the book, I was surprised at how much they fit into the film FROM the novel. Stardust in general had not been one of my favourite fairytales, there were so many other magic filled stories that I preferred over it.
The book was way better in my opinion, and I got to see beautiful art work along the way.

The more I read of Neil, the faster he shoots up my favorite author list. He is a master storyteller, quickly able to engage you in his story, and to lose yourself in the fantastical worlds he creates. Stardust is no different. Highly recommended
Even what's not Gaiman's best book is still far superior to most others'.
