It took me FOREVER to finish this book. Many starts and stops, and finally I purchased the full cast audiobook version so I could listen all the way through it. The book really picks up at the end, and everything becomes so much clearer. It is worth it for you own peace of mind to finish it once you start - you won't be disappointed.

Felt heavily influenced by Pratchett's "Small Gods," and that's not a bad thing. The gods exist in human form and are powered by belief, prayer, worship, etc. Same general idea of "Small Gods". The more believers a god has, the stronger they are. A war is coming between the old gods, such as Odin, Anubis, and Czernobog and the new gods like The Internet, The Media, and The Government. Shadow, a recent parolee, embarks on a quest to help a god win the war.
