My least favorite book of the series so far, and I know exactly why. What the hell happened to Mac? Yes, I get that she's gone through something terrible and this book shows her survival of that ordeal and her transformation into someone stronger.

But, wow.

She was a brat and she's still a brat, but at least there was a charm to it before. Now she's a much bigger one and just barely tolerable. And I thought she was self-absorbed before. Here, she's arrogant, selfish and just flat out full of her My least favorite book of the series so far, and I know exactly why. What the hell happened to Mac? Here, she's arrogant, selfish and just flat out full of herself. Does she seriously hold herself higher than a Seelie Queen? And the way she looks down her nose at all her sidhe-seer sisters -- guess what, without that spear of hers she'd flail just as helplessly as any of them. And of course, there's her borderline abuse of a sleepy 100-year-old woman. Well, at least she had the decency to feel ashamed of it afterward. I don't understand why V'lane or Barrons would even bother fighting over her.

Speaking of which, I also finally concluded that her whole relationship with Jericho Barrons does not sit well with me. Frankly, I feel it's a bit sick. Personally, I would never categorize this series under romance. Romance for me tends to require mutual respect and lack of abuse, you know? After four books, it's clearly not improving. He keeps secrets from her, knocks her around whenever he wants to, not to mention dubious consent where the sex is involved.

The dynamic between Mac and Barrons disturbs me and not just because of the way he treats her, but after so long their conversations never seem to go anywhere either. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way they sassed each other in the first couple of books, but that got stale quick. And frankly, at this point I'm also sick of the tired old "will they-won't they" dance. Mac, figure out how you feel about Barrons and just get on with it. As the saying goes, crap or get off the pot.

And finally, the "revelation" about iron as the kryptonite for Fae. Really? Iron as a protective or repelling substance against faeries has a long history in folklore and is quite widely known, I'm surprised it's being brought up here like no one knew.

Anyway, I won't deny this fourth book sort of put me off completing the series. I'm not even that tempted by the evil cliffhanger at the end of it. But oh well. I figure with one book left, screw it, I'll just finish it. I just hope I'll have a better time with it, because I was really enjoying this series until this book, and it'd be a shame for things to end on a sour note. ...more

I have been looking forward to this book due to how the last one ended. It drove me nuts to have such a cliff hanger. But I think the author managed to out do herself with the ending of this book. In some ways I wish I hadn't discovered this series until all the books were done so I wouldn't be left hanging.

The book opens right where the last one ended and we get to see the consequences of what the princes turned Mac into. Seeing how there was no Mac left in her and her fight back to herself was ...more

so this was a relisten, and I caught a lot of things that I missed the first time around....and for the ending I remember how pissed off I was with the cliffhanger and the fact that I was going to have to wait a year for the answers. And while I did like the narration by Joyce Bean on the first three books....The dual narration of Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante is awesome...and just to address my pet peeve with other audios that say they have dual narration....this audio is how dual narration sho ...more

Dreamfever, like every other installment in the Fever series, has surpassed it's predecessors. At first I was rolling my eyes at some of the fan comments. How could this series possibly continue on it's upward ascent to supremacy? The quality of books in a series usually follow a bell curve but there are exceptions and this is definitely one of them! This book is overflowing with Fae goodness. So many things happen that it's hard for me to write a just review without given too much away. The beginning of this book was somewhat of a surprise. I was just happy that I didn't have to wait very long for the answer to Faefever's cliff hanger ending. The thing that I've been rooting for to happen does occur but not as expected. On one hand, I was jumping for joy. Finally! The moment I've been waiting for! On the other, I was sad. I hadn't wanted things to go down like they did. This turn of events really put a new spin on Barrons' and Mac's relationship. Karen Marie Moning's writing talents continue to amaze me. She is so well versed and adept that it's mind boggling. It seems like there's no style she can't master. She does an amazing job of getting into Mac's head and getting readers to accurately experience the changes in her character.

Mac makes a remarkable recovery from the horrible events in the previous book. She keeps disproving all of her critics again and again. Things that would bring a normal person to their knees only spur Mac on to fight harder. To push herself to her limits and beyond; to become faster, smarter, stronger. A force to the reckoned with! She's come a long way from the sheltered Georgian girl she once was. Dani plays a much larger role in this installment. She's a fantastic character and I'm so happy that we get to learn more about her. I'm also thrilled that Mac has a sidhe-seer ally to fight along side her. Enough of being used by men, it's time for some girl power! Dani is a sight to behold. Her skills and confidence are phenomenal for someone her age. But she's not without her own problems. Like all of Karen Marie Moning characters, there's real depth to her.

This book expands the Fae universe to epic proportions. Mac travels all over the place in her own world and in other dimensions. The transitions are seamless. So much detail but never once will you feel lost. Every minute point is covered, every "i" is dotted; KMM's skills at her craft are unparalleled. Discoveries are made, battles are fought and new alliances are formed. This novel is a page turner from start to finish. I have no idea how everything is going to manage to come full circle and end in the fifth book but if anyone can pull it off it's this author.

Staying true to the cliff hanger ending, this book is no exception. It seems like every time I finish a book in the Fever series I'm struck with the sudden urge to throw it across the room. Maybe even stomp my feet and sulk a little. KMM must have a twisted side to her to constantly be doing this to her readers! I'm so relieved that the final book is out and that I don't have to wait. I now completely understand and sympathize with those who read Dreamfever back when it was first published. The torture! This series is quickly becoming one of my favorite of all time. I'm not finished reading it and I'm already planning to re-read all of the books!

*eye roll* I thought the last book had a bad cliffhanger? Psssssshhhh! I don't even remember what it was now! (Errrmmm... I'm not kidding about that. I really don't remember and I read it 2 days ago! Is that bad?) Okay, I just looked it up, and that one was REALLY bad too. Probably on par with this one. But the first few pages of this book make up for it pretty well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS book has the worst cliffhanger of ALL TIME. Like Alias Season 2 bad! Maybe even worse! AH ...more

I did not really like this book. I think I am just getting bored with this series. I listened to this book and was a little distracted, that could have been part of the problem. I did seem to have a hard time following it.

WOW, this was a twisted tale! Rowena pisses me off even more than she pisses of Mac, I'm sure of it! Dani is excellent, and Mac keeps getting strongeer, even if a lot of twisted things have to happen for that to happen. And the cliffhanger was killing me... again. ...more
