★★★★☆ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Well, I waited awhile to pick up the second in the Guild Hunter series and now I remember all the reasons why I did. Ms. Singh has created a brutal world of angels, filled with a little too much blood, violence and cruelty for my tastes. Still, this author is original in her world-building, writes amazing secondary characters, and is talented in her plot twists. Her take on Angels and Vampires is fascinating. The sophomore book of Ms. Singh's Guild Hunter Series is a wonderful story. The continued examination of primary couple, Archangel Raphael and Hunter Elena, is sensual and fulfilling.
Now that Elena is an angel, things in her world are very different. We watch her learn how to use her new wings, develop her skills and learn the way of the immortal. I love how Elena's growth is "real." She doesn't wake up from a year of a coma and can "just fly." She has to struggle and we take that journey with h ...more

I felt so so after the first book in this series, then read the short story in Must Love Hellhounds, which is set in this world, and was very excited for this book. Sadly in the end it ended up being good, but not as good as I was hoping for. I really enjoy this series. The mains characters are great. I think the supporting characters are better. I love Illium (aka Bluebell), Dmitri and Venom. Lijuan is a great villian. It will be interesting to see where Ms. Singh takes her. I loved watching Elena grow into her new body and the use of her wings.
