There was something about this one that seemed off, Cindy was off on her own, Yuki was off on her own, Clare was barely around, and Lindsay bopped between them all. The group as a whole wasn't around, which is the strongest part of the series.

I actually found myself most interested in Yuki's story. It was so wonderful at first, but soon hit disaster. I always wonder what I would do in situations like this, for certain not as well as Yuki.

I cannot even express how disappointed I am with this book. It was pretty much horrible and it wasn't in just one way. The plot lines were disjointed and written with little forethought. If they had been they would have had resolutions and been solid. Also there was little depth to the characters this time around. Finally the action was substandard.
First we have the belly bombings. This had the potential to pan out and make a bang so to speak but it was weak. There was no headway made for almos I cannot even express how disappointed I am with this book. It was pretty much horrible and it wasn't in just one way. Finally the action was substandard.
First we have the belly bombings. This had the potential to pan out and make a bang so to speak but it was weak. There was no headway made for almost all of the book and in the end when they are finally getting somewhere on the case it's basically just forgotten about. We get a half-assed excuse as to why the suspects did the bombings. (By the way said bombings continued after they were in custody.) Also when the suspects are in custody and questioned we get no answers and no closure. Nothing is resolved. This is a case you think that the author would go back to by the end of the book and solve or set up to continue to the next book but no instead it's just deaded.
Second is the terrorists on Yuki and Brady's cruise ship. Why? What's the point? They should have just went on their honeymoon and that was it. Goodbye. They didn't need their own side story. It was also weak. Who were the pirates and what was their motive? Yes I know they were America and the motive was money but we didn't get to know any of them or why they wanted the money. It was very shallowly done.
Third was the return of Mackie Morales. This had the potential to be so good. It could have been its own book but instead it was a rushed game of cat and mouse that didn't get the time or recognition it deserved. This was a great opportunity to revisit a past storyline that had significance and affected several of the characters. Instead it was made into a pathetic tangent of a plot that was wasted. All the time spent on Yuki and Brady could have focused on what Mackie was doing and gone into more depth making for a much stronger story instead of splitting it 3 ways.
What can I say about our characters. It was as though they were all just pawns in a game and we got a dumbed down version of who they were on a personal level. There were little bits and pieces of what was going on in their personal lives but this book was very case based. Lindsey was the focus as usual but it was all work related. Yuki had her own story line and I was happy to finally see her get a break at happiness. Nothing on Claire. Then there's Cindy. Sometimes I love Cindy and other times she frustrates me beyond belief. This was one of those times. She blatantly takes something Lindsey says and runs with it for a story knowing she shouldn't. She repeatedly puts herself in dangerous situations without the backup and protection of the police then continuously calls Lindsey after the fact but only leaves cryptic messages. Why can't she just say what's going on? I was so happy when she finally did leave a detailed message but by that point I was scared she might be marked for dead because why else would that logic come into play. The other thing that infuriated me was that her phone was dying! Really dying and she was in a car? Who doesn't have a car charger in this day and age? I'll tell you who. No one in the Woman's Murder Club does. Ever!
Finally this was not an action packed book. All of the false leads just kept Lindsey and Conklin on their asses at the office or in the car. Nothing even happened with Cindy after putting herself in several reckless situations until the end.
I really hope that Patterson and Paetro get their heads together and make the next few books a bit more exciting. I like this series but this book was forced and I need the next one to be better. ...more

A potential terrorist is killing people with belly bombs - hiding them in food so they ingest them unknowingly. A serial killing former foe and has surfaced. A couple are finally free to marry and jump in with both feet.

I really loved this series when it started. Now I enjoy it, but it's not the same. It is a soap opera and not always in a good way. I keep waiting for Helena Cassadine to show up with her freeze ray to blackmail San Francisco or the Devil to leave Marlena in Salem and jump into L ...more

With Lindsay tracking a stomach bomber, Cindy follows up on a lead to a killer that got away. Meanwhile, Yuki is getting married.

This series is wildly uneven, but this is one of the better ones. Three plots make things a bit rushed at the end, and Claire becomes sidelined for much of the book, but it had me turning pages.

Yet again a multi layered story with action on two or three storylines. Another very enjoyable book with different twists and a bit of terrorism thrown in too. This is a very enjoyable series, although it has changed in slant from the early books in the series.
