This one lacked the punch of the first two novels. It felt like it was building and building without much movement or action. Fortunately, the book picks up during the last third. I have to give the author props. He is not afraid to take risks. He doesn't seem too attached to anyone or any story line. By the end of this one I just can't believe how it seemed like it was full of betrayal after betrayal. Just when I thought I had a grasp on who was allied with who and who was behind some of the heinous acts, but I was proved again and again that I was wrong.
I felt like the supposed "good" people couldn't get a break and many of the deaths shocked me. I was also surprised by how some of the "bad" people revealed things and made me feel sorry for them and made me sort of excuse some of their act ...more
