This is not my normal book, but it was recommended to me in a challenge. For quite a bit of the book I hemmed and hawed on whether I would dnf it or not. It was very slow moving, but every time I made up my mind to quit it, there was something that kept me reading.
I really felt for Vivian and all the other orphans on the train. Sure they needed adults to take care of them, but the process they went about to find them left a lot to be desired. In the end Vivian had a good life. It was interestin ...more

This book combined both my favorite genres Historical Fiction and Contemporary Young Adult. It has been a while since I've finished a book this fast. It drew me in and I couldn't stop reading to see what happened next. The Orphan Train part of it reminds me a little of the American Girl books as well. I'm happy I decided to pick this up.

I read this book for Book Club and REALLY enjoyed it! Vivian's story was utterly engrossing! Molly's story was less fleshed out, but I really liked her character as well. We had a really lovely discussion of the parallels between the two girls and I took a lot of things away from it... especially to appreciate all the good in my life, as SO MANY PEOPLE have such hardship in their lives. :) ...more

I really loved this book. It's not an intense look at the Orphan Trains, but was a good story about a time in our history that most people don't know about. It made me want to do some further investigating/reading on the subject.

Great storyline. Good narration. One of the best books I’ve read in 2019.

SOme books, some authors are just that good in grabbing hold of the reader, of unfolding a story to keep the reader interested AND in presenting an unexpected ending. This is one of those books. There should be no wonder why this book is highly read and highly rated. Coming in less than 300 pages, if you are a reader that is generally open to reading best sellers, I suspect this book will not disappoint!
