I know, I know, I'm complaining about the courtroom scenes in a legal thriller, but they really seemed to slow down the pace of the story late in the second half. Overall, I did enjoy the book, however.

I loved everything about this book. The plot was exciting without being over the top. I was hooked in from start to finish. The characters were interesting and Mickey Haller was made very relatable. He was also very well developed. I would find myself shouting at the villain in my head as the plot was unfolding so I was definitely invested in him as a character. This was a solid re-read. The characters are interesting, the writing is generally tight, and the plot was twisty and interesting. I might recommend giving the audiobook a pass, because I didn’t really like the way the narrator read female characters. Not all women sound whiny and nagging, especially when their dialogue isn’t in that vein at all. Otherwise, this was a fun palate cleanser in between other books.
