Reading pause. I am having a hard time connecting to keep going and some parts were depressing. I will have to try again when my mind is better for this type of read.

I honestly will not lie, the first third to 39% of the book had such intensity and went to such heavy and dark spaces, that I had an emotional slump and had to put it down for a while.

After pulling it together, and getting back to it, it really evolved, and i was able to appreciate the story. When you read it, you can probably figure out the turning moment I'm talking about.

Bodine and Cal were great leads with great chemistry, what more can I say?

The usual with Nora, great characterization and

A lot has changed since Callen Skinner left town. Hi best friend's little sister, Bodine Longbow is now running the family's resort business and she is all grown up. Callen came back to work the ranch, but soon finds himself working for Bo at the resort. As the two get to know each other again, they find themselves in the middle of danger when they find the body of a young woman who also worked at the resort.

Things escalate as another woman is killed and Bo's aunt is found after having been kep

The story begins in 1995 when twenty-one year old Alice Bodine is hitchhiking her way back to the family ranch outside of Missoula, Montana. She had left three years earlier right after her sister Maureen's wedding in the hopes of building a career in Hollywood. She still has some miles to go and night is falling when a man in a pick-up offers her a ride. She doesn't know that he is going to kidnap her, rape her, imprison her and abuse her for more than twenty-five years.

Then the story switches

I went the audio book route for this one, I had the audio cd's, which meant I couldn't go double speed and at over 17 hours it seemed like this book went on forever. While I thought things went slow at first, I liked how the story was set in the present and past. We needed that, we needed to know what Alice went through and to see how the family that was left behind went ahead with their lives.

What Alice went through was horrible, but it seemed worse because she was heading home and was so clos

Very disappointed in this book. The story took a while to get going and when it did the book was over.

I felt there were too many things going on at once and therefore it was distracting from the story as a whole.

Also, I don't know if anyone else did but Maureen "Reenie" was not a great character. Very self righteous and lacking emotion.

If Roberts had wrote the book on Alice's story and her recovery with the main characters as secondary stories, I think it would've proved to be a more solid rea
