I was really into this thriller for the first half. I'm a sucker for an unreliable narrator, and Cassandra's jet-setting lifestyle was intriguing. I think everyone has wondered what it would be like to work as a flight attendant, with the opportunity to meet people all over the world. This novel promises to explore what happens when this glamorous lifestyle goes wrong.

This is a hard book to review because I do like the author's writing but I'm having a hard time with the main character, Cassie Bowden. She is extremely unlikeable and stupid. She is a flight attendant with an bad alcohol problem who blacks out and goes to bed with a man she just met on her last flight. How stupid is that? She wakes up next morning and the man is dead next to her and she has no idea what happened to him. The book started out very interesting and then dramatically slows down as C

I love Chris Bohjalian's writing style and this book was no exception. Lots of twist and turns, some I guessed, but some were total surprises, the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star was the epilogue, I didn't enjoy it at all, it felt rushed and frankly it left me a little confused.

Great concept...blackout drunk wakes up next to last night's lover with a severed neck. The self-destructive heroine has to face choices and atonement. Enjoyed this thoroughly.
