I was really into this thriller for the first half. I'm a sucker for an unreliable narrator, and Cassandra's jet-setting lifestyle was intriguing. I think everyone has wondered what it would be like to work as a flight attendant, with the opportunity to meet people all over the world. This novel promises to explore what happens when this glamorous lifestyle goes wrong.

This is a hard book to review because I do like the author's writing but I'm having a hard time with the main character, Cassie Bowden. She is extremely unlikeable and stupid. She is a flight attendant with an bad alcohol problem who blacks out and goes to bed with a man she just met on her last flight. How stupid is that? I love Chris Bohjalian's writing style and this book was no exception. Lots of twist and turns, some I guessed, but some were total surprises, the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star was the epilogue, I didn't enjoy it at all, it felt rushed and frankly it left me a little confused.

Great concept...blackout drunk wakes up next to last night's lover with a severed neck. The self-destructive heroine has to face choices and atonement. Enjoyed this thoroughly.
