When I read Ugly Love myself, I loved it SO much, and I cried so many ugly tears it's not even funny. I enjoyed the audiobook, too, but some things I hadn't really noticed when I read it stood out when I listened to it.

Ugly Love is told in dual perspectives. The present day affair comes from Tate Collins perspective. She is a single, registered nurse who moves into her brother’s high-rise apartment while attending school. Here she meets airline pilot Miles Archer. So I really hate that I’m even writing this review because of how much I love this author and her previous works. I’ve just about loved all her books I’ve read in the past so I’m quite sad that this one didn’t do it for me. But, I think it is just too different from her norm, and it didn’t work for me. I think I’m extra upset about this since I was hoping the amazing CoHo would help get me out of this reading slump I’ve been in. But no such luck.

I wasn't too sure about the format of this one when I started this one. I didn't like Miles in the present and with the glimpses of what happened in his life to make him the way that he was in the past, wasn't much better. It was only as things went on, as Miles and Tate started to break their rules, even if they didn't admit it and learning exactly what went on that I felt for everyone involved.
I was glad that Miles confronted his past, it was a long time coming, for everyone, but most especial ...more

I liked listening to this audiobook because the narrators (Deacon Lee and Grace Grant) did an amazing job, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if I had read it. Why? Because the heroine, Tate, didn’t have a gram of self-respect. She was a complete doormat, she let the hero, Miles, do with her whatever he wanted and even though she knew what was happening wasn’t right she continue allowing it, over and over again. I really wanted to slap some sense into her.

This book is just fantastic. I've read it twice already and it still never gets old.
