Well, this certainly didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. Maybe it’s because there was so much going on, or that all the parts just didn’t fit together as well as they should, but quite a few things came together in way that kept me from enjoying this book. And to be honest, a lot of the themes rubbed me the wrong way.

It's hard to pin down the time frame of The Grace Year in comparison to our current day. The world is a historical sort of dystopia. The world is a creepy one where men control the move of young women from girls to adult at age 16, with a year in a wilderness retreat to survive in any way they can.

This story was so unique. The world building in this is crazy good. This book is handmaid's tale and hunger games combined. Weird combination but it worked so well!
This story was powerful! It's not one I am likely to read again but it was very good. Lots of gore and violence.
I will definitely read the next one in the series if the author decides to write another. I mean that ending... 😭 ...more
