Huguette Clark, was born at the turn of the 20th century, and lived to be well over 100. She didn't live in any of her mansions in NY, CT or CA, though, instead choosing to live in a hospital for the last 20+ years of her life, despite being healthy. I remember reading the MSNBC articles years ago when she was still alive and discovered in the NYC hospital. It seemed very weird then, like she was being taken advantage of for her money.

Hugette Clark was deemed a schizoid personality. Was she? Or was she just unwilling to enter the fray of life amongst the very wealthy? At one point the authors talk about how she and her older sister were never allowed to do anything for themselves, making the scouting program the older sister was in one of the most precious activities in her tragically short life. If as a child one doesn't learn through doing, how can one be expected to thrive in society?

I was absolutely fascinated by this story as soon as I read the summary. Once I actually started reading the book, I was immediately sucked in! This took me a while to read due to my work schedule and waiting on library holds, but it was well worth the wait.
