Another graphic memoir, this one about the Islamic Revolution in Iran in the 80s. A look at the complicated politics of the middle east through the eyes of a child who lived it, which makes it digestible -- we get the pieces in "child-size" doses, but what is happening is not child-sized at all. This was my second stab at a graphic novel (and a book club pick), and it was surprisingly moving. I felt like the graphic novel medium was, at times, more impactful than if she simply wrote out her experiences about growing up in Iran in the 1980s. Illuminating and really educational for me, since my knowledge of Iraninan history is admittedly limited. A quick and worthwhile read.

I loved Persepolis! What a wonderful and informative story!
