I loved, loved, loved this book. I do have a soft spot for weird books, but whoa. This book jumps right into a different kind of world and expects you to make your way through it as you go. The writing was beautiful, the world that Atwood created was just outstanding, multi-dimensional, and frightening (not in a horror/terror way, in a moralistic / ethical way). I'm more familiar with Margaret Atwood's poetry - I've never read any of her prose before. It sort of reminded me of her poetry, actually. It's written in a very stylized way that resembles poetry more than prose sometimes. Parts are pretty dry, but the plot overall is intriguing.

This book is surprisingly fantastic. I wouldn't think I'd want to read something that could be described as feminist post-apocalyptic science fiction but I did and I loved every second of it. Read it, it's good!
