This is one of very few books that I finished and immediately turned over and began again. I found Cath's difficult transition to college and her estrangement from her sister painfully accurate, as is her difficulty connecting with people or trusting them. I learned a lot about fan culture and fan fiction, too, and I was swept up in the parallel narrative for Simon Snow as I read to find out what would happen next for Cath. The tension in this book is delicious. Rowell captures being 18 so well, from the writing to the romance to the family issues.
