I really enjoyed Golden Son and felt it was a significant improvement over the first book in the Red Rising trilogy.

Where Red Rising introduced the world and characters, Golden Son took things to a new level by ramping up the action while also showing maturity and development in Darrow and his allies. In this book, Darrow rises through the ranks at the Academy, but faces many challenges as he tries to outmaneuver other powers in Mars as well as uncover conspiracies. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in the series but wanted to give this one a shot. I really tried, reading over 3/4 of it. It wasn’t paying off so I bailed.
