[close] I sort of cheated,this book was not recommended to me personally but it did come highly recommended on two pod-cast's I follow. The Book Riot podcast and Books on the Night Stand podcast. I was on a long waiting list for this book so when it came available I had to read it. This is the only challenge I could work it into. Anyway, great story!

I literally just finished this book, and I tend to review books more favorably the sooner I review after reading, so excuse me if I effuse praise for a moment.

This book was amazing! Any Bronte fan will love it. It's truly grotesque in that tragic, romantic sense of the word. It really reads like a classic, with plot twists and destructive relationships and governesses and madness and mistaken/assumed identities. Oh, it's just wonderful! I liked the plot of this book--though I wouldn't call it a ghost story, more than I enjoyed the writing. The book held my attention, but I thought the pace was a bit uneven, especially towards the end. The writing kept pulling me out of the story and reminding me that I was reading rather than allowing me to get lost in the story. It was enjoyable, but not my favorite. ...more
