A decent conclusion to the WICKED series... I was disappointed by SON OF THE WITCH, and was therefore pleased that the final book was closer to my expectations of Maguire's work. All in all, a great conclusion and one that was worth waiting for.

(Not to mention I read it in about five hours while waiting for my flight and for the first hour or so of the flight. The prose made it very easy!) ...more

The third book in the Wicked Years series. I liked this one quite a bit more than the second book, Son of A WItch. This story follows the Cowardly Lion through his trials and travails throught the land of OZ. We witness his transformation into a coward, his search for family, attempts at acceptance in human society or Animal society. I liked this book, but I probably should have reread the other two before this one to refresh my memory of all the elements of the story. I liked the pacing of this book more than the others; I found I was able to get through it a little more quickly. If you liked the others, I think this would be a worthwhile read.

I did not find this as engaging as the first 2. I felt less connected to the Lion as a character, and saw less of a connection to the plot of the other novels. The ending, however, was very satisfying.
