4.5 stars if I could. Published in 1988 but doesn’t feel dated, and in fact is surprisingly relevant to today’s political climate.

A lovely absorbing story - though I felt let down by the ending. Not my favorite Barbara Kingsolver, but I enjoyed reading it.

I loved The Poisonwood Bible by the same author. This book was just ok. Original story and characters, but it lacks the emotional depth of the other book.
Who calls a child Turtle, anyway?

What a sweet little book! I feel in love with all of the characters and wanted only the best for them. I left this book with a smile on my face.
