This is the best kind of Stephen King book in that it only exists to tell a simple story that he probably had floating around in his head for a long time. And it's a gunslinger book, so you can't really go wrong with that. Love me some Roland and his ka-tet.

I'm glad that King wasn't completely done with the Dark Tower universe he created over so many books and years. This was a great addition and filled in a lot of blanks for me. I really loved the story in a story in a story structure. This book reminded me that Roland the Gunslinger is so much more than just a man with a gun, he's a man with a story to tell, but he takes his own sweet time in the actual telling.
