Finally picked this up after leaving it half read for... a year and a half apparently. The poetry is striking, in the sense of it smacking you upside the head. Not always my taste, but I found much fodder for thought in this. It's been a crummy few weeks in my family, and this poetry got me out of my own head for a few minutes. So four stars for making me think about Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman in a new way. ...more

I can't say I totally understand Patricia Lockwood's poetry, but I enjoyed reading it, found some of her turns of phrase thrilling, and will probably reread this collection next year. ...more
