Dear, Miranda July,

You craft the most awkward characters and the most painfully uncomfortable moments, and I kinda love everything you touch. I've always thought nothing would top the "yiiiikes" reaction of that whole back and worth forever conversation, but then you gave us Cheryl and Clee and those periodic wafts of foot odor tinged with violence. A quirky, absurd book that weaves seamlessly between reality and fantasy...just what you would expect from Miranda July. To be honest, I didn't even care what the plot was (though, I did enjoy it). It was the inner workings of Cheryl, the main character, that really put this book in its own category. If you are a fan of July's, then I would highly recommend this if you haven't already picked it up. ...more
