Maybe 4 stars if I had been able to focus and get into the story more. I probably can't give a fair review because I listened to this book in fits and starts over the last year. It's a well known book about WWI (written in 1928) and it is vivid and dark and depressing, as it probably should be, but the character development is thin of everyone but the narrator. It is fascinating to hear the perspective from the German side after this Great War when the author doesn't know WWII is on the horizon. ...more
