I really liked this account of the author taking on a project of developing cooking classes for a group of people who felt uncomfortable and unskilled in the kitchen, but wanted to learn how to cook. Well written, a good story, and lots of good basic tips for them (and me)!

I love cooking and consider myself a pretty good self-taught cook, thanks to Julia Child with shout outs to Ruth Reichl, Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson, so I didn't open this book expecting to learn a ton of new cooking information.

I was so-so on the author's first book about her experiences at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, but I liked this one much better. This is the story of the author helping a group of non-cooking women find the courage and skills to be better cooks. It includes tips, recipes, and ideas for anyone who wants to learn more about basic cooking skills.
This is the book that convinced me to try roasting a whole chicken, which I had never done before!
