*Update: reread this for OBOB - Oregon Battle of the Books 2023-2024. This was a high school selection. This book gets better every time I read it :)*

3.5 stars. It's Jane Austen so of course the writing sparkles and there are some great characters. The story, however, is a lot less compelling than her great novels.

While many don't, I loved Nothanger Abbey. I really liked Catherine Morland for being the heroine of her own story. And I love books about women who love books. Perhaps Austen should have left the gothic novels to the Bronte sister and Radclifee, but it is still an excellent read.
