I just loved this slipstream collection! The narrator of each first-person story (each titled for a different "job") is a woman, sometimes voluptuous and beautiful, sometimes plain, but always in a weirdly subserviant position that is delightfully examined. The second story, "Model's Assistant," made me laugh out loud.
