I enjoyed reading this story of Malala's efforts to seek education for herself and other girls in her country. Several reviewers critique the uneven tone of the book which is valid as you can clearly see the influence of cowriter Christina Lamb. I found the parts about the history and culture of the Swat region rather fascinating but would have liked more of Malala's story.

This book had the "feel" of a lot of ghostwritten books, where I felt like I could see the skeleton of interviews that lay beneath the prose. In other words, the story was important to tell, the writing was not great. But Malala's story certainly deserves a wise audience and I'm glad that this book was one way to do that.
