I am not an aviation buff, so most of the information in this biography was new to me. David McCullough does not disappoint in his telling of history and the impact of the Wright brothers and their work nor in his presentation of the small details that communicate a personality. It's clear from the beginning that McCullough prefers Wilbur. It's hard to tell if he focuses on him more because of that preference or because of his part in the story.

Probably closer to 4.5! This is my kind of history book. A good balance between the timeline details and quotes that let you see the humanity of the characters and what makes them tick. Truly amazing that this happened a little over a hundred years ago.

Tough audio, but reading it kept putting me to sleep! The story was at times insane, the achievement incredible and the experiences fascinating. But overall, with a little Hollywood flair, I think I would prefer to see the movie! (I know, I pretty much have to burn my librarian card right now!!!)
