A classic for a reason. This was a re-read for the podcast but frankly, even though this was written 33 years ago (OMG) it's still timely. And I can overlook the Too Much Science sections because the dinosaur parts are SO AWESOME.

Upon revisiting this - yeah, the movie is still so much better than the book. But really Crichton, if you want to convince people that science is terrible, you shouldn't use dinosaur cloning to do it. I'm still heartbroken that such a thing is impossible.
This is also a good example of why I avoid older sci-fi. It's hard not to laugh at the characters' getting excited over a CD-ROM. You could still tell this story with modern tech, however. You think Isla Nublar has cell reception? So it has that ...more
