I picked this book up because I was excited about the possibilities of Emma Watson's Our Shared Shelf project. I didn't know how excited I was about this book in particular, but really, for a feminist and Ms. magazine subscriber, I know surprisingly little about Gloria Steinem. In the end I decided if there was a larger conversation spawned by the book club and/or this book, I wanted to be ready with an opinion.

As good a place as any to start reading Gloria’s writing.

Weirdly I couldn’t finish this, but most of it I just loved.

She is an amazing, inspiring and very hopeful presence in the world in my opinion. I saw her speak live once (brag) and was most amazed by her profound sense of humor. In that speech she said something along the lines of “if no one tells your story you’ll think you’re crazy or somethings wrong with you” which I have always remembered (brag).

I first heard about the book when I saw Gloria Steinem speak at the ALA conference in San Francisco in 2015. I loved her speech, and was so excited to finally get my hands on the book, which was fantastic.

Shelves: commute, ebooks, feminist
Disjointed but mostly a pleasure. Just barely three stars, though, because of clearly false claims about grammatical gender that undermine the credibility of other claims in the book.
