The Daughters of Mars is a novel about two sisters from rural Australia. Both sisters are nurses and are recovering from their own possible complicity in their terminally ill mother's death when they sign up for The Great War. Sally and Naomi serve in the Dardanelles Campaign including Gallipoli, partly aboard a ship. They both end up at the end of the war in France.
