I read a lot of YA, but it's all fantasy and dystopia. This collection of letters written from the wallflower are a special insight into this high school freshman's life. It's touching, insightful, but sad and heartbreaking at the same time. The letters draw you in........ Please don't think this is another cheesy high school drama about popular and not....This book has a lot more insight to offer than that.

A year in Charlie's life as he deals with high school and trying to engage in instead of watch his life. I ended up reading this in one sitting - I was sucked in to Charlie and his friends and family despite not having a clue of what the book was about or trying to do. Now that it's finished, I can see some of the criticisms I've read in reviews here (seems that you either love or hate this one), but while I was in the book, everything worked for me. I just reread this; the last (and only) time I read it before now was when the book was released. I was in high school, and I remember seeing ads for the book on MTV, and I remember being terribly pleased that MTV was promoting reading, and thinking that a lot of kids might actually read something because of that.

Começando em setembro a fase mais puxada do meu mestrado e estando eu à espera no cabeleireiro sem nada mais que o telemóvel, pois que decidi ler um pequeno e-book. Definitely not what I was expecting, but it should provide some good book club discussion! Overall, I enjoyed it. Written as a series of letters it was a quick and convenient read. Easy to read little snippets here and there, but I won't say too much so I don't get yelled at by the book club ladies :)
