Maybe I would have loved this if I read it when I was 14. But reading it as an adult, I just didn't get it.
This book covers Charlie's freshman year, during which he hangs out with a bunch of seniors. They drink, smoke, do drugs, unrealistically introduce him to masturbation, listen to good music and watch Rocky Horror.
I've read reviews that some of the plot elements were over the top. Which I sort of agree, but my main problem with this is the characterization. Charlie is so weird. So so weird ...more

Been meaning to read this since it first came out and was recommended on MTV of all places.
Had a few problems with it, can't go into it as i'd spoil it, but it was a mostly good read about what it's like to be a young teenager, finding yourself without friends and trying to fit in. ...more
