I can't believe it took me so long to finish this book. Absolutely inspiring and beautifully laid out. I wish it had been longer, honestly. Some of the organizations are a bit dated (I literally winced at references to 3 Cups of Tea) but otherwise it seems still so relevant. I wanted to cheer for the women highlighted in this book and I hope to hear they are still successful and changing their communities.

This book looks at the situation many women in the world find themselves in and some of the programs out there trying to provide alternatives and options for improving their livelihoods. I commend that and all the work done in the name of improving the options for women. However, I found this book difficult to read. I think the title is misleading. I'm not really sure I'm ready to declare this the perfect book or anything, but it certainly achieves exactly what it's authors intend it to - it's a powerful rallying cry for the Western world to pay more attention to the mental, physical, and economic development of women around the world.
