I have a feeling that if I read this book as a kid, it would undoubtedly be a five-star book for me. My quibbles with it are those of an adult reader (it's closer to three and a half stars for me), but I imagine that reading this as a kid is a really empowering thing. It's a book designed for the smart kids, one that tells them that it's ok to be different and intelligent and not fit in. I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars for this one. I decided to give it 4 based on legacy alone. It took me a while to get into this book -- like most of the book -- but it was really good. So much happens so quickly. I can see how it would be good for reluctant readers because there's absolutely no fluff. Everything that happens is directly related to the plot. Matt says that when he writes poetry he tries to elminiate every unnecessary word, because words are like currency in poetry -- this book
