Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite ever cartoon. I was so sad when Bill Waterson retired. This is the cream of the crop, and it's wonderful. I laugh almost til I cry while reading it, and recommend it wholeheartedly, for sharp dialogue, child-like imaginativeness, and great artwork. If you like humorous comic strips that often comment on the world at large, you will love this too.

WHOA. I thought this was just going to be a bunch of Calvin & Hobbes strips collected. It's not!! I mean, there are a bunch of strips collected, but it's not just that. There are essays and commentary on strips about his influences, dinosaurs, the layout of the Sunday strip, fan response, and so so so much more.

A 10th anniversary "best of" collection would have been excellent enough, but the commentary from Watterson really makes this required reading.
